New year, new site.

In an effort to modernize our outreach and tools, the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association has relaunched our site with an array of new tools. Beyond the aesthetic enhancements, the site is now easier for our volunteers to update, and for users to stay current on local projects.

Features include:

Events Calendar: We’ll post agendas, Zoom links, and other details of our monthly meetings, but also have dedicated posts and information on other annual events we sponsor like the Fire Station Festival, the Spring Bunny Parade, the Holiday Parade and party at the Ney, and of course the annual Hyde Park Historic Homes Tour.

Blog-style News/Info section: Formerly, we’d post news, then take it down after awhile. This new site’s tools include a blog where you can search and browse older news along with newer posts.

Online membership sign-up: Users can now join us online. New members can sign up for membership, pay their dues, renew automatically, and get reminders near the end of the year to renew.

Pecan Press and Homes Tour Archives: A remarkable resource, we’ve collected back issues of the Pecan Press since 2005, and Homes Tour printed guidebooks dating back to the event’s origins circa 1975-ish (!).

Updated Resources: We’ve taken a fresh pass through the many local resources published here, and will be adding an array of new content related to the I-35 expansion and HPNA’s input on this massive project.

Thanks to volunteer Graham Kunze, who built and maintained the last version of our site since 2017, and helped us migrate to this site’s new design. His tireless work has been crucial to keeping our communications intact, especially during the COVID years when this site was a vital resource keeping the neighborhood updated on local issues.

We could use volunteers to help us maintain the site moving forward. Have experience publishing websites using Squarespace or other kinds of CMS tools? We could use an hour or so of your time each month helping us keep everything fresh. Don’t worry if you’re not an ace; we’ll teach you everything you need to know. Comfort using cloud-based tools and a reliable computer is essential, however.
